OVERVIEW
For our Impact and Empathy project, we were inspired by Generation Z on Hyperakt. We asked ourselves — how do we deal with mental health as graphic design students? — and answered that we have become so tight-knit, we can endure our workload and hardships together. But then we wondered, how did we become so close as a class?
Our community grew when we would spend time at our Junior studio outside of classroom hours. We thought how can a physical space foster community? Before Covid-19, the SVA Library was a space for student designers to congregate and have fun. However, with the new generation of student designers, a few of them knew about the SVA Library. Therefore, we decided to collaborate with the SVA Library (now VAR*RL) to create a space for future student designers so they can foster their own community within the College of Fine Arts.

DELIVERABLES
As a team we developed, interactive materials for students to actively engage in the library space. An exterior wayfinding frame for staff to put posters and promotional material. The frame was designed to hold any poster size from 8.5x11 in to 24x36in. Bookshelf was set in front of the Senior Studio at 808 Comm. Ave that acts as an extension of VAR*RL. The Sketchup model proposed future changes to the library to create a more inviting and collaborative space.

IMPACT
VAR*RL adopted our branding guideline to create their own graphics for the weekly BU SVA Newsletters. Also adopted some elements from layout proposal to their new library.
